Blue Heron Farm Welcomes New Assistant Trainer

posted May 8, 2012, 10:30 AM by Blue Heron Farm   [ updated May 8, 2012, 10:30 AM ]

Tara Devlin is from Miller Place, New York. As a junior, she competed up and down the east coast, showing in the hunters, jumpers and equitation. Tara achieved many accomplishments during those years, winning  hunter championships as well as qualifying for the USEF Medal Finals and placing in the top four in the CHJA Junior Equitation finals. Tara went to Cazenovia College her freshman year and competed on the IHSA team. Finishing up her Business Management Degree at Stony Brook University, Tara was high point  rider for her region at nationals and high point open rider for the year. As an amateur, Tara competed in the equitation and found her true passion in the jumper ring. As a professional, Tara worked at a sales farm on Long Island and was one of the Interscholastic Equestrian Team coaches at Stony Brook University. Tara is excited to bring her team-oriented attitude, as well as her experience in the saddle and the show ring to Blue Heron Farm. Tara will be joining us May 15th.

Great Horse Show Season!

posted Sep 14, 2011, 2:46 PM by Blue Heron Farm

A belated congratulations to all those who participated in horse shows this year. Just one more BISC schooling show to go!

We had a great week in Canada at Thunderbird. Everyone had success and won ribbons. Congrats to Isabella King and Dare to Dream on their reserve championship! Addie Carion had a fantastic learning experience on Cloud 9. Malena Delgado and My Turn had some gorgeous rounds. Emily Hoskins and Corduroy were very competitive in their second showing in the medium ponies. Laura Ward and Charlottes Web had a lot of fun in the A/A division. Harriette Thomas and Dixie Mae got better with each round in their first big rated show.

We recently returned from the Octoberfest show in Auburn with a group of first time horse show-ers. Haven Low and Dare to Dream came away with a reserve champion in the short stirrup ponies. Cedar Williams and Acapella had a great time in the short stirrup ring, and Elise Ran and Cloud 9 learned a lot about horse shows! Thank you to the students for being such good help and we look forward to next year!
